Overview

Aegis Aerospace is currently looking for an Electrical Engineering Project Support Lead to join our team in Houston, TX.

 

Overview:

The purpose of this position is to coordinate electrical engineering lab activities in support of the DOD Human Spaceflight Task Order (DHSTO) contract.  This position will support projects for the DOD Space Test Program (STP) – Houston office on-site at Johnson Space Center (JSC).  The electrical engineering lab supports STP missions by providing electrical fabrication, testing, and verification activities including harness production/testing, board testing and remediation, and electrical box integration/checkout.  This role will coordinate between multiple projects to assess deadlines for electrical harnesses and task lab support personnel appropriately to complete harness drawing, fabrication, and testing within project timelines.  This role is expected to resolve routine engineering and lab related issues and participate in the design, fabrication, review, and testing process for electrical harnesses as needed.  Candidates will be asked to routinely change priorities based on project milestones and requirements and manage lab output within schedule and budget constraints, and report status to program management.  Applicants must have experience in electrical engineering and harness fabrication/inspection.

Responsibilities

  • Task technicians, mentor and coach team members.
  • Interface with procurement and property to manage inventory.
  • Maintain consistency among design and engineering practices within the fabrication team.
  • Configuration management of drawings and documentation.
  • Maintain the working areas of the lab.
  • Participate in weekly project meetings.
  • Responsible for creating and delivering electrical harness designs, drawings, fabrication paperwork, completed harnesses, and as-built paperwork.
  • Ability to participate in system testing.
  • Responsible for compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental plan; must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all the Company’s safety policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel.
  • Responsible for compliance with the Quality Assurance Plan, policies and procedures.
  • In-person attendance on-site is required for this position.
  • Responsible for completing all assigned training.
  • Ability to work within a dynamic team environment.
  • Excellent skills in both written and verbal communication.

 

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in electrical engineering or a related discipline with at least 5 years’ experience in designing/building spaceflight hardware
  • Must have US Citizenship.
  • Must have current Top Secret security clearance, or be eligible for a Single Scope Background Investigation.
  • Prior experience with the NASA or DOD flight hardware development process
  • Experience with executing technical projects.
  • Experienced technical problem solver.
  • Work with suppliers to meet design, quality, and timing objectives.
  • Knowledge and experience using Altium for design of electrical boards and harnesses.
  • Experience with interpersonal skills in a teaming environment where collaboration and communication are critical to the functioning of the team.
  • Motivated self-starter willing to take initiative.
  • Experience with designing and leading electrical harness fabrication and inspection.
  • Experience with use of lab equipment including oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, power supplies, logic analyzers.
  • Ability to occasionally travel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with project managers, project leads, customers, and with contract colleagues is essential.
  • Ability to attain and maintain respect and confidence of the customer and contract personnel. A close, cooperative customer interface is essential.
  • Mature, professional judgment in establishing objectives, milestones and priorities.
  • Reliable and dependable work habits and the dedication to get the job done.

DESIRED:

  • Experience working on government contracts.
  • Experience interfacing with government procurement and property processes.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols such as RS-422, SPI bus, I2C, MIL-STD 1553B, LVDS, Ethernet
  • Trained in IPC or NASA-STD 8739 for harness fabrication, inspection, and soldering.
  • Experience designing and building GSE test fixtures.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
